If you feel that life is too hectic and you don't get to spend enough time with your family, you will be certain to take this into account when it comes to your annual holiday. If you've been able to gather everyone together for a two or three-week getaway, then you will be firmly focused on family cohesion and will want to remove as many outside influences as you can.

As you've had many a pleasant experience in the past by hiring a caravan for your trip, you may be planning to do the same thing this year. However, you may have quite an adventure planned and will need to be sure that your towing vehicle is capable of the job. Do you need to upgrade here?

You Don't Need Uncertainty

The beauty of Australia is that you can quickly lose yourself in the wilderness (in a controlled way of course) and will be able to get away from the urban sprawl quite easily. With some careful planning and satellite navigation you will be able to plot a course across country and will be sure to create some long-term memories. Yet when you do, you may introduce a level of uncertainty, especially when it comes to the road conditions and their surface. As you can never be sure of the weather, you will need to take into account towing capability in order to avoid any issues.

You're Dealing with Challenges

While a two-wheel drive vehicle can tow a caravan perfectly well on smooth, "blacktop" roads, this is not necessarily the case when you turn onto a track. Furthermore, if you do park your vehicle in a field overnight, will you be able to pull the load back onto the roadway in the morning, if conditions underneath are quite wet?

You Want More Stability

A 4wd hire will be able to extricate your caravan from virtually every situation, so that you can eliminate that worry before you set out on your trip. Such a vehicle is also more stable in general road conditions and this could be beneficial if you're towing a caravan in very windy conditions.

It's Worth the Investment

Certainly, you may expect to pay a little bit more for petrol or diesel when you use a four-wheel-drive vehicle, but this additional expense can be more than balanced by your peace of mind. You won't need to lay awake at night and worry if you can extricate your rig from that field, after all.
